I’m Diana. I trained as a psychologist, spent years in a neuroscience lab studying Alzheimer’s disease, taught research methods, worked in marketing for a while, and ended up in open science and scholarly communication. From the outside, it may look like a winding road, but from the inside, it has always been driven by the same curiosity about how things work and why people do what they do. Soy Diana. Me formé como psicóloga, pasé años en un laboratorio de neurociencia estudiando la enfermedad de Alzheimer, enseñé metodología de investigación, trabajé un tiempo en marketing y, finalmente, me dediqué a la ciencia abierta y a la comunicación académica. Desde fuera puede parecer un camino con muchas curvas, pero desde dentro siempre ha sido la misma curiosidad por entender cómo funcionan las cosas y por qué las personas hacen lo que hacen.

I carry that second question into everything. Behind every policy, report, or piece of infrastructure are people deciding what to trust, what to adopt, and what to ignore, and that is often where a text succeeds or fails. When I read a document, I hold two perspectives at once: what its author is trying to say, and what its reader needs to understand. Esa segunda pregunta me acompaña en todo lo que hago. Detrás de cada política, cada informe o cada infraestructura hay personas que deciden en qué confiar, qué adoptar y qué ignorar, y muchas veces es ahí donde un texto funciona o fracasa. Cuando leo un documento, sostengo dos perspectivas a la vez: lo que quiere decir quien lo escribe y lo que necesita entender quien lo lee. Buena parte de mi trabajo ocurre entre las dos.

I enjoy figuring out how things work. I read a lot, try to spot what others might have missed, and check if arguments really make sense. This helps me understand the world and shapes how I work. Writing and editing let me share what I learn in a way that’s helpful to others. Me gusta llegar al fondo de las cosas. Leo mucho, trato de encontrar lo que otros pueden haber pasado por alto y reviso si los argumentos realmente tienen sentido. Esto me ayuda a comprender el mundo y define mi manera de trabajar. Escribir y editar me permiten compartir lo que aprendo de una forma útil para los demás.
